Сейчас там проходит поминальная служба по Илие II, который скончался 17 марта в возрасте 93 лет.
В соборе участвуют около 1200 делегатов. Запланированы выступления кандидатов на патриарший престол, представителей епархий, а также историческая справка о титуле Католикоса-Патриарха Грузии.
Голосовать будут только епископы – для избрания нужно больше половины голосов, то есть минимум 18 (из 34).
